It is often noticed in movies that a person’s life is shown to have a tinge of grey in them. These, mind you, are not the old black-and-white movies that I’m talking about here. These are all modern movies which have been intentionally tinged with grey to signify the boring mundane daily routines of the characters. Grey may also signify the decay which a character’s life is going through.
So if grey signifies the mundane and the decay, so what signifies the excitement and the energy? The answer is of course as simple as the rainbow: colors.
Colors hold a more significant part in our life than anything else, mainly due to their being associated with the sense of vision. the sense of vision is the dominating sense among all. A deaf person can make up for loss of sound by looking at words. A mute person can write what he says. But a blind person sorely misses his sense of vision, for nothing can compensate for that kind of loss.
So it is colors which represent the living vibrations of this world. The bright vibrant colors are the ones representing and bringing joy to us. Colors are infact so important that a whole medical science based on the property of colors has sprung up. Colors are used in therapy to change ones mind-waves. Green colors are beneficial to the eyes. Blue brings about relaxation. Yellow(bright yellow, mind you) causes joy to spring in our hearts. And red(light pinkish hue) causes the sensation of love to spring.
Ofcourse these may vary greatly depending on a person’s personality and mindset. To some blue may represent sadness, and to others it may represent joy. These differences are greatly noticed among various cultures.
In India, the celebration of Holi represents the will of the common man to fully enjoy the beauty of colors. Colored powders(called abir) is put on each other’s faces. Colored water is sprayed on each other with hand-pumps(called pithcaris) and there as allround laughter and merriment.
But even among having fun with family and friends we must not forget our biggest family and our greatest friend. The family is Earth and the friend is nature. We should learn to use nature-friendly colors(powders and paints) and celebrate without causing too much pollution. Also, we must learn to do a proper cleanup afterwards so as to put less stress on the natural cleaning process.
So, all my dear Readers, enjoy yourselves and have as much fun as possible, but at the same time maintain the respect and love for nature that she deserves.
